The administrative flag of the Municipality of Easter Island, displays the Coat of Arms of Rapa Nui, the legendary Manu Tara Bird (sooty tern), the source of the Bird Man Cult and still the most sacred animal and symbol on the island. The name of the municipality is preceded by “I.”, most probably standing for “Ilustrísima”, “Most Illustrious”.
